Jim Shotwell

Jim decided he wanted to be a pilot when his uncle Ken, a corporate pilot for Florida Power and Light, took him and his family for a flight in a Cessna twin over the Florida Keys. That was in 1952. He can vividly remember the beauty of the flight to this day! Like many things in life, his plans to fly where put on hold. After returning home from military service, He received his private pilot certificate in 1979. Working his way through an instrument and commercial rating, he purchased a Beech Debonair in late 1980, which he continues to fly for business and pleasure to this day.

After working for 30 years in his family farm machinery business, he decided to start a second career as a flight instructor and professional pilot. This is a decision He has never regretted. He is currently the chief flight instructor at Aurora Aviation, and have accumulated 6500 hours PIC. He never gets tired of introducing people to the joys of flight!
